Kusadasi - the mysterious antique bird island ...

The modern Turkish name of the city is derived from the words kuş (bird) and ada (an island), which means - Bird Island. Perhaps the name is associated with a small island, which flew a variety of birds nest. Currently, the island is connected to the shore causeway.
The city is located on the Aegean coast, 90 km south of the third largest city in Turkey, Izmir, and 71 km from the provincial capital of Aydin.
Near the beach area is the Greek island of Samos, the Ionian cultural center in ancient times.
Since ancient times, the area is known as the cultural center of many civilizations. It is possible that the legendary Leleges people lived here even for 3000 years BC.
